Promotional Sets

Promotional Sets are sets of cards that can be purchased for real money of in-game-gold. Some of the promotional cards are rather strong, so new starters to the game should seriously consider to acquire the cards at some point in time.

Thus far, the following Promotional Sets have been released.

The Madhouse Collection

The first promotional set of cards is the Madhouse Collection. The card set was released in 2016 along the monthly game mode Chaos Arena. The bundle contains a set of 10 new cards (three copies each) and one arena ticket that can be purchased for $9.99 or 1500 gold.  This is the list of cards:

  • Altar of Despair
  • Close Call
  • Forsaken Champion
  • Gardener of Swords
  • Illusory Mimic
  • Merchant’s Camel
  • Ring of Imaginery Might
  • Shivering Apothecary
  • Stoneshand Orc
  • Swindler’s Market

While some cards in this set see little play on the ladder, a few are key ingredients of special fun theme decks, e.g.

  • Swindler’s Market is the basis of the Market Assassin deck archetype,
  • Gardener Of Swords is the basis of the famous Item Battlemage deck archetype,
  • Altar of Despair is used in several “Altar”-archetypes

Altogether it is recommended for new players to acquire this set with in-game gold.
