TESL put to Maintenance Mode
Today, Bethesda’s Community Manager, CVH, announced on reddit, that no new major content will be developed for The Elder Scrolls Legends for the foreseeable future. Below is a copy of the text (links added by tesl.blog).
Very Bad News…
We would like to provide an update on Legends in regard to new content. Our previous roadmap indicated we would be releasing one more set this year. We decided to put any new content development or releases on hold for the foreseeable future. This decision will not in any way affect the release and development of GAEA’s Asia-specific version of Legends, which is operated separately, but will inform our decisions on content and feature development going forward.
Until then, you can still download and play Legends on all existing platforms and compete online as well as in the single-player modes. We will also continue to support the game with monthly reward cards and regular in-game events. New expansions and other future content, however, are no longer under active development. We will continue to provide ongoing maintenance support.
To thank you all for supporting Legends these past few years, and for continuing to play with us, we are giving away The Tamriel Collection – an assortment of new, three-attribute cards and more – to all players for free upon their next login. We are immensely grateful to work on The Elder Scrolls: Legends, to have you as a community, and we sincerely appreciate the love and support you’ve given us.

This is a very sad day, and I am still trying to recover from the heartbreaking news. TESL has been the one game I have been playing consistently over the past years. I would like to thank Sparkypants for the very hard work they have put into developing the new client and the continuous flow of content, they have provided to us. The game has given us such great moments and hours and hours and hours of gaming fun and my thoughts are with the Sparkypants team. Good luck to all of you!
I will still continue to play and hope to see you around on ladder or in one of the upcoming gauntlets! Irony: Unstoppable Rage in an alt art version is the prize for participating in this weekend’s event.
TESL in Asia just started…
And if you are in Asia, you can play TESL on your Android device. With the core set and the Fall of the Dark Brotherhood expansion. Here is the video from DTBlayde that showcases the Asian client.
Multiplayer games, outside of immortal games like Chess, always have a shelf life.
Thank you for the excellent game analysis!!!
Any thoughts on whether you think development will ever be continued again on TESL (maybe in concurrence with elder scrolls 6?
Also, how long would you estimate the servers will last if this is the end of development?
I only say this because I’d like to craft some premiums that I would never have used gems on if the game had continued to pay the game developers… 🙂
