To complete your collection of all epics in Alliance War, you will need a total of 60 cards. This includes 9 epics per color, as well as 15 in tricolor. Alliance War Epic Crafting Guide for Control Decks
The must-have epics in Alliance War are Baandari Opportunist, Gray Viper Brigand, Transitus Shrine and Debilitate.
Baandari Opportunist is a staple one drop that shuffles more of itself into your deck. These copies get an additional cantrip ability, which basically allows Opportunist to replace itself for little magicka and provides you with additional ping damage through an unguarded lane. They can also be used for one-turn-kill combos involving Mentor’s Ring in control decks.
Gray Viper Brigand
Gray Viper Brigand is a resilient body for control decks that draws a card for each Gray Viper Brigand in your discard pile. He provides a proactive tool during opening and can extend your resources during a later phase of the game. Gray Viper Brigand is best used in 50-cards decks, as they offer higher draw consistency. However, he has also found a home in Conscription control decks, as these rapidly thin their decks.
The Transitus Shrine support is a staple card in Empire decks that allows players to easily dump their hand. The shrine already got nerfed once, but it is still a very strong card. It reduces the magicka cost of creatures and actions in your hand once you have at least one creature in each lane. With cheap creatures that also consistently re-draw, you have a very powerful engine to build a board of tokens very quickly.
Debilitate is mass removal à la bonne heure. It reduces all creatures stats (including your own) across both lanes by -2/-2. This even applies if the creature is warded. With Shearpoint Dragon in play, Debilitate is easily a more powerful Ice Storm. Paired with a proactive early-game control strategy, it is even possible to reduce the cost of the card to less than 7.
